College Basketball Loses a Legend

In 1985 David took down Goliath, Villanova beat Georgetown in the NCAA National Championship game.  Villanova shot 79 percent and pulled off a 66-64 upset.  On the sidelines coaching this upset was Rollie Massimino or Coach Mass as people called him.

Coach Mass has won over 800 college basketball games.  He started at Stony Brook on Long Island and was coaching up until his passing at Keiser University in Florida.  He is best known for his time at Villanova leading the Wildcats to that 1985 NCAA title.  He was known as a family man, and you can see the meaning of family in the Villanova program.  Coach Mass was still a big part of Villanova Basketball and received a ring for the 2016 National Championship.  He is not in the hall of fame yet but many believe he deserves to be.  Not only did Villanova lose one of their own but so did college basketball as a whole.

RIP Coach Mass (1934-2017)
