Wildcats lack good offense but march on

On a day when Villanova struggled offensively, they still managed to beat Texas Tech 71-59. In doing so, they’re on their way to San Antonio, TX for the Final Four.

The Red Raiders went on a 7-0 run to start the first half and even led 9-1, the largest deficit Nova had faced this tournament. Although Texas Tech was offensively patient, the Wildcats came away from the first half leading 36-23, despite the elite perimeter defense of the Raiders. Eric Paschall led the way for Nova in the first half, with 9 points, and 6 rebounds.

The Red Raiders continued to struggle throughout the second half as they struggled offensively with field goals and three-pointers. Nova took advantage, and went to the free-throw line 35 times, making 29 of them. All five of Villanova’s starters were in double figures by the end of the second half.

At the conclusion of the game, Keenan Evans led the Raiders with 12 points, while Jalen Brunson led the Cats with 15.

Despite Texas Tech not playing their best, the game marked their best run in the history of the NCAA tournament- an accomplishment to be proud of. Nova advances to face the winner of Duke-Kansas in San Antonio, TX on March 31st (Time TBA).
