On home court, Auburn University crushed the University of Washington 88 to 66, leading by 18 at half causing them to never look back at their competition.
Auburn got off on a good foot from the beginning which was the key to their success. The Tigers are now 15-0 at Auburn Arena these past two seasons against non-conference teams which we can expect to grow with this season.
Now sitting 2-0 in the very beginning of the season, No. 9 Tigers have a winning streak they hope to continue for majority of the season. It was a historic night in Auburn Arena since they won their first home game over a non-conference team in nearly 48 years.
The transfer from VCU, Samir Doughty, poured 14 points into the first half to go along side of his 3 rebounds to help secure the lead against the Huskies. Washington outshot Auburn by 8% in the first half, but the Tigers received 11 offensive rebounds and scored 20 off turnovers upsetting their opponents.
Doughty ended with 18 points, and Chuma Okeke led everyone with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the match-up. Harper and Brown both added 13 points apiece. Washington somehow made 25 of 45 shots which is a big issue in terms of playing teams like Auburn.
Washington will host San Diego Monday night and Auburn will continue their three-game home stand against Mississippi College Wednesday night, hopping to keep their winning streak alive.
