In Ann Arbor, Michigan, No. 11 University of North Carolina Tar Heels couldn’t stand a chance against No. 7 University of Michigan- Ann Arbor Wolverines in this ACC-Big/Ten Challenge math up. The Wolverines gave it to the Tar Heels, handing them there second loss of the season with a score of 84-67.
The Michigan freshman, Ignas Brazdeikis led the team with 24 points and 5 rebounds to help secure the win and give himself an impressive start to the season. North Carolina freshman, Cody White led the Tar Heels with 12 points; still a good number for his first year, but not enough to push past Michigan.
Now 7-0, Michigan seems to be on a revenge track seeing that at this time exactly last season the Tar Heels dominated the Wolverines 86-71. Climbing to a 22-point lead in the second half, they proved that North Carolina wasn’t going own the court this season the way they did perviously.
In the beginning, the Tar Heels made 9 of their first 12 shots and jumped out to a 21-11 lead in the match up’s first 7 and a half minutes. But Michigan quickly responded back to push a head 28-23 with 8:43 left to play in the first half.
The Wolverines outscored and overall out played the Tar Heels 45-32 in the second half which was a score North Caroline in the end would not be able to recover from.
UNC will try to recover from their loss at home on Wednesday, December 5th against University of North Caroline- Wilmington. The University of Michigan- Ann Arbor will be on the road Thursday, November 29th to play North Caroline State in Raleigh, N.C for another ACC/Big Ten Challenger.
