Creighton Can’t Put the Breaks on Gonzaga

In Omaha, Nebraska, Gonzaga Bulldogs hit a score of 103-92 to beat 6-2 Creighton Blue Jays. The Bulldogs, 8-0, took over the No. 1 ranking this week after beating Duke University at the Maui Invitational. This matchup was a huge test for Gonzaga with Geno Crandall and Killian Tillie out due to injuries. The score proves that they were more then prepared for this challenge and overcame one of the nation’s top offensive teams.

Gonzaga sophomore guard, Zach Norvell Jr. had a collegiate high of 28 points alongside of his impressive 5 rebounds. He came out strong after halftime to help the 48-41 score go up to 66-65, which would make it their first lead since the beginning of the game.

The sophomore from Creighton, Ty-Shon Alexander, had a good 27 point game, but it wasn’t enough to go above and beyond Gonzaga who showed they wanted to keep their winning streak. Going scoreless for almost 4 minutes of the second half, Creighton missed 5 shots and had 3 turn overs while Gonzaga shot and made two 3-pointers and a layup.

It was going to take a strong and incredibly special defense to get Gonzaga to chill out this season, but the Bulldogs hit the 90-point mark for the sixth time in eight games.

Creighton Blue Jays will play on the road at Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday at 5PM, and Gonzaga Bulldogs will host Washington Huskies Wednesday at 10PM.
